Event Description: ON FEBRUARY 6 AND 7, 2010, THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY JOINT VENTURE AND THE SAN FRANCISCO ESTUARY INSTITUTE WILL BE HOSTING A two day workshop designed to introduce San Francisco Bay Area volunteers with the latest information and new skills for monitoring wetlands and streams. Monitoring is becoming one of the most critical elements of wetland and stream restoration and advocacy. It can reveal the success, or lack of success, in restoration and mitigation projects, providing insights on how to improve those projects and may soon have greater significance in the regulatory process. The workshop will be a combination of talks, panel discussions and wetlands field observation using the California Rapid Assessment Method. Successful volunteer-conducted monitoring studies will be featured. Check www.wrmp.org for registration information.
